I want to upgrade the sound system in my 94 ext cab, but I've discovered that it has the premium sound system with factory amp. I don't know anything about the amp so I'm going to assume its garbage and not use it. I plan on running the 4 speakers off an aftermarket HU, and maybe adding an amp for a sub. That leaves me with 2 options:
a) Run a bypass harness down to the factory amp and use the stock wiring for the speakers
b) Tear the factory amp and old wiring out, and run new wire from the speakers to the HU
Any opinions on which would be the better way to go? I'm partial to just ripping the old stuff out and starting over, but I'm an audio noob and no electrician. How hard is it to run new speaker wire in these rangers? I'm all for learning experiences, but I don't want to be pulling my hair out over this. Thanks.
