After searching and finding it's not cheap even for used from CL, Ebay or private for a 93 40.0 manual pcm I'm thinking get one from Advance, Rock or other.

Any suggestions otherwise?

Computers aren't cheap, and that particular one even less so because it is somewhat sought after.

Short of a junk yard those are the places to look.

So I've found out.. Do I need a specific part number for what I seek?

How's the shop going? open for business yet? :)

Shop is up and running. Netted $100 for 3 hours work yesterday. I even have a couple regulars now. Pulled my CL add down because word of mouth is keeping me busier than I can handle.

I have a 93 4.0 manual PCM. I can pull numbers off it, but anything listed on ebay with those stats should be just fine. The older engines are not nearly as picky as modern stuff, EEC-IV especially.

That's great! Well My project is going to be done in White haven not that far from you .. may be out to see you for some of the fine points Lot's of things I want to do to make this truck my last best set of wheels to take me up to Mtns lakes and rivers of Maine and the south to the hills of TN.

Cardone seems to the source for PCMs from Advance

.

What reason? I ask because I just robbed one for my 91 race truck. If they are rare then I will look for a different one and keep the 93 cpu with the 93 truck.

Always, I'm going from auto to manual, don't want to deal with CELs

I was just reading Jet's PCM information, doesn't seem that much better then OEM. cost is about the same

Ah, those were the good 'ol days. Now it costs me around $5,000/month to keep the lights on. That's $210 every single business day to break even.

ADSM..
" I have a 93 4.0 manual PCM " Thought you had one for an auto. Should I message you about it?

Oh.... I remember how it really changed things when I became an actually employer in my HVAC biz. omg IRS becomes your partner!

Sorry to threadjack, I was just wondering why the rarity. Is it something special for that particular year and options? I had extra pcm's, unfortunately they went up in smoke in the fire at my storage.

when I replaced mine some years back had to have vin number, and other stuff off the door jamb to match the computer up to the vehicle. got mine at autozone no issues in over 10 years.

Guess I'll stop by one of the stores and ask .. bummer if they won't sell one without a OEM Vin showing it's manual since the beast (my truck) is an automatic

Find a truck similar to yours on ebay or in a JY or something and use their VIN?

Or hope for a decent manager that can find one would probably be your best bet.

Last night I went onto autozone site and they have a blue streak pcm for my truck in manual wasn't any thing said about vin# just CA or fed emissions, were the choices.

Get Bluestreak or dorman?both have 1 year warrenty.
