Hello!
I have a 1993 Ford Ranger with the 4.0L V6 pushrod engine. I have been hunting down an air leak for quite some time. I am satisfied that I have resolved any leaks on the intake side, confirmed with a smoke test after a header job. I would like to perform a leak-down test, but the kit that I purchased from Harbor Freight is not quite working. I know the threads on the spark plugs are 14mm, but the M14 threaded hose is not shaped properly for these cylinder heads. The threaded part of the adapter is too short and the non-threaded part of the adapter is too bulky, preventing the threads from catching. See the attached photo for more context.
I've tried hunting down extensions or different kits, but am not having much luck. Is there a particular adapter or strategy I should be using here?
Also, any tips on working with cylinder #3? It's a huge pain to get to with the heater core in the way, I'm worried I wont be able to check that cylinder.
