jb welded a freeze plug just to get me by now i have 4 leaking was wondering how big of a project is it to tear a 4.0 with ac all installed so i can replace all the freeze plugs is the wiring a mess to get back in the right place once it is all pulled ? any tricks or advice would help

what type of coolant you running? battery acid?

hmmmmmm....if the ex manifolds looke removable with little effort you may be able to drop and pop with the engine in there.

pretty easy to do and use screw in rubber plugs

im running prestone 50 50 mix the drivers side exhaust looks pretty easy to do passenger side kinda look hard but im tearing all the ac out of the truck

are the rubber plugs easier to use or do they last longer

dont use the rubber plugs! i had one on my s10 and they pop out and their a PITA all the way around

the right rubber plugs should be fine for four or five years at least....properly installed of course.

I ran a rubber plug for 10 years.

I put it in when I was 16. Picked at a piece of dirt on the front of the head and coolant started running out. Put a rubber plug in and never had another problem from that spot. The plug was still in there and ok 3 weeks ago when I sent the heads back to NJ with Wrecking-Crew for Hondaeater.

It did take me 2 shots to get it in and clamped straight though.

k i gotta do 4 of them and have to pull motor to make it easy cause where some are not accessable with out pulling a couple of parts where can i get a complete freeze plug kit call two of my local parts stores and they sell them individually any ideas i also heard there are two differnt kits cause there are some 4.0's with one freeze plug that differs ? thanks for all the help

napa... they sell steel and brass freeze plugs. and autozone has the installation tool in their free loan a tool i think.
