So, today i went to pick up my new (86) ranger.
took three different tries at different banks and stores to finally get my paycheck cashed so i could pay for it. finally, got my money.
i go pay for the truck, start driving home.
i go get some gas, buy two bottles of gas treatment since the truck has been sitting so long. then i put 40 dollars on the pump, ends up with about 35 in the front tank before it's full, so i put the other five in the rear tank.
start to pull out, and smoke starts pouring out of the A/C vents and i can smell burning.
i jump out of the truck, run inside the store, grab the fire extinguisher, and pump it into the cowl, sucks it into the vents and puts out the fire, or so i think
i pop the hood and the entire A/C box is in flames, so i give it another hit and put it out.
so, then, i drive to the car wash and hose out the cabin and blast the cowl untill all the yellow dust comes out.
apparently there were leaves in the condensor and they caught the blower resistor on fire, so now i need a new airbox.
no big deal, i can get one for 10 dollars at the scrap heap.
so, i start driving home, covered in fire extinguisher dust, the truck shuts down on a hill, shit.
i try to drop a gear and restart it, syncro spools up, i let the clutch out, crack. don't know what that was, shit.
so, i get it pulled over, open the hood, i blew a fuel line off the FPR, i cut the cracked end off and cram it back on, engine cranks up, i put it in gear...nothing.
pressure plate is busted.
call my dad, he comes in his f-150, we tow the truck back to the shop i got it from with a tow strap, half way there, the muffler falls off.
**** it, we bungee that sucker back up, and keep going.
i'm torn between demanding a refund or simply letting the guy fix it, i mean hell, all that's gone wrong, there's not much left!
at least the engine runs strong :/
