I'm getting a set of 35x12.5x15 tires delivered soon. I have decided to also purchase new steel wheels. I'll be getting Rock Crawler wheels, 5 on 4.5 with a 10" wide rim.

My question is, what backspacing would you guys recommend? I want as wide a footprint as possible to have more stability as my CG will be high, yet I don't want to put excessive/dangerous strain on my bearings, balljoints, etc.

Thanks!

4.5" if you're getting 10" wide rims.

That'll work fine. You'll just have to be a little extra diligent when setting up your front wheelbearings.
