Hey guys,

My 86 ranger has a little to much rust for my liking. Before I start cutting and patching it up, I was wondering if a step side off a 93+ would bolt directly on? Anyone try this, or know how they mount?

As long as your truck is a short bed, yes it will bolt right on. It will probably look goofy though. You would probably need to modify the fuel filler hose.

how it bolts on ....
  1. four T-55 button top bolts in bed
  2. 3 screws for fuel filler neck
  3. lighting plug at drivers' side rear of bed (underneath)
soak the bolt threads with p'blaster for a few days before trying to remove them.

There's 6 bolts not 4.

So it has the same mounting for many years.. good to know. Now has anyone swapped a stepside onto a first gen??

I got one on mine and it is a bit wider but overall looks great, I'm thinkin when it's done it will be ok.
I went for iyt after seeing one on 13 Mile Rd. all finished, and everything blended in really well.
