bed swap

I have a 2003 ranger edge step side bed that I'm looking to swap for a straight short bed from another extended cab ranger. Wondering if the bolt pattern will match up, and if so what years are compatible? Also, would the wiring harness for the tail lights be the same as the old ones? Any advice is good advice. Thanks.

Well you are looking for a 00 to probably 05 bed are the mose similar but all the way up to 09 or down to 98 should work as well.

The bolt pattern for all ranger cabs is the same. you could bolt on a 6 ft bed from an 83 and it would fit the body lines just wouldn't match up exactly.

The taillight harness should also be the same for 00+. The only thing you will need to change would be the Fuel filler neck and vent tube.

93-08 beds are all the same. 09 and up I'm pretty sure have a different bolt pattern. Regular cab trucks use the same bed too, as long as it's a short bed, not a long bed. The taillight harnesses are not the same for all those years though, but you can reuse your harness.

Oh right yeah I do think they swapped bolt patterns for the 09+ beds...

Yeah, Ford engineers got tired of us being able to swap so much stuff back and forth on our trucks. That's why the new ones are such a PITA to do anything with.
