it's not rocket appliances
My 94 b3000 came with a flatbed on it. I purchased a 97 ranger bed for it with taillights and gate.

I saw the bed bolt kit for $49 on eBay, and it looks like some stuff I could get at the hardware store for around ten bucks.

Anyone have any recommendations on what hardware I should get? It's a 94 long bed reg cab. I'm just looking for the 6 bolts/nuts that mount the bed to the frame.

$50 seems a bit excessive for such simple hardware.

I think they're 12mm bolts by something long (there's 2 lengths, longest bolts go up front), and the stock ones come with heads to accept a T55 torx bit, and you'll want the J nuts to go with them...

You could go to the hardware store and get 1/2" panhead allen bolts (or regular bolts if you don't mind the heads being exposed) and J nuts to go with them, I just don't know the lengths off the top of my head...

These are about 8 inches long as I remember. I made a mount for a 25 gal drum for my diesel to be bolted in and went to a ace store and got some all thread and just used it to bolt in. So some long 8-10 bolts of any variety will work. If you get some of the round top ones you can always cut the heads for a standard of phillips type screwdriver to run them down with. Actually go to a wrecking yard and get one of theirs actually 2 there are 2 lengths to deal with if they will let ya and then see what ya need.

Never seen that stuff at the hardware store. I bought one of those kits as well, was a Dorman part kit. The Dorman part number is 924-310/ IMO even at the price is a good kit to get what you need.

The Super Duty bed bolts are also a good option. They are a strong and fit good. They can also be bought in kits off eBay for a good price as like new take off.

The 6 bolts are metric 12mm x 1.75 coarse thread, with Torx-55 heads. The 2 bolts (120mm) nearest cab were about 3/4" longer than the other 4 bolts (100mm). But any length (up to 6") will fit, just fine.

You can use a normal hex head bolt:

Or buy used bolts:

Thanks man! That eBay listing gave me the length. I will probably just get hex bolts as I don't care if they protrude.

Unless they have torx or Allen rounded ones, but I somehow doubt that. Will save me at least $30 bucks over stock ones.

This is what I'm dealing with.

I gave you their length too: they're 120mm and 100mm long. They're metric. The entire length needs to have threads.
Nice flatbed. Too bad that yucky cold white wet stuff is everywhere.

CVAR, you gave links, the actual (metric) dimensions of the bolts (in mm), and some links including the Ebay link, which gave approximate English equivalents - 4 and 5 1/4 inches long.

Aspiring bed bolters should note that the actual bolts ARE 12 mm metric (like CVAR said). However in a pinch (say oh, you're at your brother's farm and pull off the bed and break some bolts and folks at the local hardware store look at you funny cause you want metric bolts? Buy some 1/2" bolts, 4x4" and 2x5 1/4", and some extra nuts. Weld the nuts to the mangled remains of the old j-clips, bolt things together and it WILL hold your bed on till you get to the pick 'n pull for some FoMoCo replacements!)

Interesting thing about junkyard bolts - there is a remarkable diversity in the rustiness and orneriness of the bed bolts, which seemingly has nothing to do with the age of the truck. In a pick n pull situation, cherry-pick; wander around and pull the bolts which come easy til you have a set (you'll have to pull complete sets if you want to tilt up the bed and grab the j-clips, but only keep the ones that came easy - the others will be partly stripped or sometimes broken/rusted to a tiny neck)

Good Luck!
