i wanna put a 302 in my 4x4. it is a 2.8 right now with a 5-speed transmission everything is stock on the drive train. if i swap in the 302 what would be the best ideas for a tranny transfer case and axles? i would like to keep it a 5 speed but i might consider automatic. and yes of course i would like to make a little power out of the engine.

need to know what type of driving you are expecting to use it for, tire size desired, SAS or stock?

honnestly, i would like to have some power it does not have to be built all to hell, i want it to where it can be driven every day but tough on the trails, maybe 33 or 35 inch tires, definitely a sas. but i also have a 88 2wd ranger with a 2.9 and a a4ld automatic tranny i might change my mind and put the 302 in it. i still am not sure yet but looking for all the info and advice i can get.

i just have always wanted a 85 ranger with a v8 and a 5 speed tranny, i want a tough small truck with some real power!

i would like to find a f 150 with a carb v8 and a 5 speed 4x4. i also want a straight axle on my ranger. if i found this i would probaly make a full width swap.

if hardcore wheelin is not on the list... i would go with a c-5 trans, 1354 manual t-case.
