hey guys just wondering if anyone knows for sure if beadlocks are street legal or not? or if they are and aren't in certain states?

well due to the fact there are so many fake beadlocks around who would know the difference? I bet you could get away with it, just as long as they hold up to highway speeds and stuff.

External beadlocks are illegal, due to the tenancy to fail at highway speeds. Internal beadlocks are generally built to trap parts in failure mode, and don't usually throw things into traffic.

i didn't even know they tend to fail at hwy speeds. but thanks guys. i was thinking about seeing if i could get away with em on the street, but i've got fake beadlocks as it is anyways, so that'll be good enough. i just bought some superswampers on beadlocks, so thats why i was asking.

If they're maintained they work fine at hwy speeds, and some external style are legal. The part that makes them illegal is that they do need to be maintained, and it's a possibility that they could come apart if they're not vs. a regular rim that you set the bead and forget about. And that they need be self centering, where a normal weld on beadlock is only centered by the bolts.
