So my battery seems to be dead. Not sure which brands are good and I don't want to spend a ton of money on one.

So what would you recomend?

Thanks for your thoughts and time. RS

I've been getting them at Costco. They have a 3 year free replacement then the next 5 years are pro-rated. I've taken 2 back for being dead from sitting in my Mustang over the winter (my alarm drains it) and they give me a brand new one and hand me 10 dollars for a core. No questions asked either.

I sell Deka made by East Penn and I stand behind them 100%.

I know you're not looking to spend a lot of money but i have to recommend an optima yellow top. The security of knowing it will never leave you stranded easily outweighs the cost.

Right now I run a Duralast Gold with no complaints, but will be getting an Optima Yellow Top when money permits.

i have a duralast gold and a duralast red, both have worked great. i'd get the gold, usually they are only $10-$15 more than the red and you get more crankings amps and an extra year of warranty coverage.

I have two Optima blues on the bench waiting to go in, they are the marine series but I like the 4 connections for my winches and what not. I will see how they do but I would really like to have the Odyssey gel cells. Both are hi end stuff though.

I use Motomaster Eliminators... But I guess those are only available at Canadian Tire.
Well, my car has one. My truck runs some piece of crap, because its a new (to me) truck and I havn't collapsed this one yet.

our junkyard sells batterys, i got one with a green light to let you know if its good/bad its also got top/side posts on it. they sell em for 20 bucks each. i believe they have a 1 year warranty to. idk if you have any jy that do this. but just buy 2 keeps 1 in the back of your truck, incase 1 goes dead. a friend got a yellow top from our jy surprisingly enough. he was super happy.

The only problem with that plan, is if your first JY battery dies, you dont have anything guaranteeing that other battery is still holding a charge chillin' in the back of your truck. That being said, JY batteries are still a plenty-reasonable way to save some money. $20 or even $40 is a good price, depending on what you can get your hands on.

the new Optima are debatable.. i've had lots of local guys with extremely bad luck with them since that new-er company took over.. i had a yellow top die in less than a year, got it replaced and the new one is dead now.. i will never buy another one.. even tho they did make it right with a second battery.. the second time they said something had to be wrong with my charging system... and NO there is nothing wrong with my truck.. the new one has been fine for almost a year and still has great stats.

the duralast gold's have been great.. but the Zone didn't have the one i wanted so i got mine from advance auto, idk the brand but its a deep cycle marine/start battery... it was only like $78.99

I had heard Optimas were going downhill but these were new freebies sooooo I am going to run them till they die then switch to the gel odysee's

odysee is supposely the best on the market.. i bought one battery, got one free.. but they wouldn't replace it again.. so now its on my shed floor just hangin out.. it won't come back to life.. *censored*..

Hawker also makes quality dry cell batts but they're awefully steep
