I just had to jump start somebody lately with my booster pack and it got me thinking. I just put subs in my truck, 8 guage power wire and a 50 amp fuse. My booster pack has 450 c.c.a. Will those amps go through my power wire and kill my fuse every time I jump start my truck? Can I just pull the fuse to be safe? Thanks in advance :icon_cheers:

I always take my faceplate off and pull the fuse on my amp before boosting anyone.

I don't if I need to or not but I figure it's cheap insurance...

Never heard of anyone worry about this before.

well wouldnt youre battery have around that many cca when fully charged? Im pretty sure a booster pack is essentially just a battery with a charger built in, so i dont see why it would hurt anything

Devices only draw as much current as they need. The current will not 'backfeed' into the amp or anything of that nature. The starter will be pulling however many amps from the battery to turn the engine over, but it will not damage anything else. If anything, there will be less power available to the accessories.

Same reason why your headlights dim while starting your engine. Less power is available because most of it is being used to spin the starter.
