Battery maintenance question

I don't understand why you think you need to charge your battery when you drive it all the time. The alternator charges the battery when you drive it. If you make very short trips all the time your battery could discharge somewhat but if you drive it at least 5 miles, you should not have to charge your battery unless it is bad. If you let the truck sit without driving very much you may need to charge it periodically.
As has been already said, if you drive it all the time and still want to charge it, it will not hurt the battery if it is a smart charger.

I don't think I "need" to... its more or less, why not?
I don't know my battery's history, it could be 1 year old or 5 years old, I have this charger anyways for my car, so why not just hook it up to my truck to top it off.

I get my alternator will charge my battery when I drive it, but I do make a lot of short trips in my truck... ex: 2 miles to the gym, 1/2 mile to grocery store, 1 mile to gas station, 1 mile back to my house <those type of trips are not uncommon.
When I drive to work, I am on the highway 8-10 miles roughly which does help. and once summer hits, my truck will be sitting more often, even though I will still drive it a few times a week at a minimum.
