A couple of days ago I posted a photo of my base level Ranger hauling dirt. A lot of fuss was made about my Daytona race car, but I’ve spent much of my life poor and just holding on, so talk about frivolous luxuries are something of a turn off to me. My favorite car is this truck I bought used. It maintains my family and most of the heavy lifting around here. So here is more dirt hauling and bringing food for the chickens. My Ranger takes care of me. It’s what I need to survive and flourish.

Looks good to me. I'm moving this to the general section the the older Rangers. The section you posted in is for the 2019 and up Rangers. :)

We appreciate your truck too, it's just not often we get to see things as fancy as the coupe around here lol.

nothing wrong with a base level Ranger. my 2005 has 368,000+ miles on it.
I swapped out the motor last spring to keep it going.
shhh, don't tell the EPA, I put a 2002 motor in it.

Mine is a base with a sticker on the bed.

It might be your favorite vehicle, but most of us here have Rangers. Most of us here don't have a FFR Type 65. Many of us have something like that on our wish list.

Nothing wrong with your base model, but let us salvate over the car a little too.

My first Ranger 89 plain jane 4 banger. Loved that truck right up till it got bend in two. (T-Boned)

Gotta agree with OP. The only upgrade I would get from a totally base Ranger would be the extended cab. Just to give the seat some room to recline so you can take a nap in the truck.

Beyond that, I prefer 4 cylinder. RWD. Manual Trans, manual windows, MANUAL ALL THE THINGS.

On that note: Did Ford ever do manual steering on the Ranger?

Pretty sure my base '83 Ranger had no power steering. If it did, it probably would have leaked, and I would remember adding fluid to it. The only fluids that truck needed was oil, gas and water.

My '90 was about as bare bones as it got, didn't come with a rear bumper I'm pretty sure, did have a cargo light but I'm pretty sure no factory stereo, bench seat, manual windows, manual steering, manual transmission, no headliner (factory metal...), 3.08 gears... now it's basically the opposite sorta, 4x4, power steering, bucket seats with the adjustable lumbar things, fancyish stereo, all of the suspension, 5.13 gears with turbo and still a M5OD...

I like basic, if I was to choose fancier stuff it would be mix/match... my '97 F350 is a good balance, manual transmission 4x4 turbo diesel crew cab long bed, technically an XLT for whatever reason but has power mirrors (suck for towing) and power windows (2 of them work...). My '97 Ranger is pretty much a base model, 4 cylinder extended cab 4x2 cloth 60/40 bench, had just AM/FM stereo with just rear ABS and no A/C and the lightest rear springs. I have and plan to add sometime soon an explorer overhead console thing with compass and temp display, rear slider and side popout windows, other than that and wishing it had a vinyl floor it's what I would want...

my 89 was all manual. steering, trans, crank windows

i like the vinyl flooring in my 04. easy to clean and no worries of mud making the carpet all hard or stained. i just wish this truck had cruise control. that would make it perfect.

well, and a roll bar but none of the rangers came with a roll bar back in the day. like the fall guy had on his truck
