Bare minimum for mild offroading/wildland camping?

I have 3 similar. Mine take 3 AAAs. I get them that way so I don't have to have them charged. Just swap batteries and go. I probably should buy a good set of the rechargeable AAA and AA that have the USB-C port built in...

I've been burned enough by batteries dying I have been going towards USB rechargeable so I can just recharge on the go rather than look at a dead flashlight all night.

the army used red lenses inserts on our personal flashlights to not mess with night vision, also.

i don't know if the guys get that kind of stuff anymore though as that was back in the 90s
