An issue popped up this year where the forum has been spammed from known user accounts. Most of the accounts were accounts that hadn't been used for a while, but I couldn't figure out how someone's account could have been hacked. I did a search and found that this is an internet wide problem:
"Spambots are using existing leaked password lists from users that use the same password on every site."
"It is due to a data leak and reused passwords. You just have to manually clean the spam posts and send a password reset."
When we see spam being sent by an account that we know to be a good account, we delete the spam and send a password reset to the user. This hasn't happened very often, but if you use the same password across the internet, you might want to change it.
