my check engine light cam on the other day and its throwing bank 1 and bank 2 lean codes, i cleaned the MAF sensor already and just replaced the plugs and wires, any ideas what else could be causing it? thanks again!

Check for any cracks in the intake tube where unmetered air could be entering. Any vacuum hoses disconnected?

i dont see any cracks, and cant see that any vacuum hoses are disconnected. oh and also i have had trouble with it not starting on the first try but i crank it the secend time and starts and runs just fine which i have been told has to deal with the fuel system losing pressure? could this also have something to do with that?

When we see this at work it has a good likelihood of being the EGR system. The other most common cause is a vacuum or intake leak. I doubt you know anyone with a smoker huh? Try some old carb cleaner in short bursts towards possible leak areas. The idle will let you know if you found it.

**disclaimer** Avoid high heat areas with carb cleaner. I accept no responsibility if you burn your truck to the ground.

lol, thanks ill check that out, what might i need to do if it is the egr system?

Sounds like lack of fuel to me. I would start with the fuel filter, If that doesn't fix it, you'll need a fuel pump.

Yeah you're either gettin unmetered air into the engine or lacking fuel.

You should check your fuel filter. Fuel pump relay and fuel pump. Check fuel pressure.

It wouldn't be one of the O2 sensors, etc. since it's showing lean trims on both banks.

I agree with mutantpony though, From what more info you've given, a fuel related problem is more suspect.

thanks a ton guys, the fuel filter is what i was thinking (hoping thats all it is) too, i will change that out in the morning and hopefully that takes care of it!

just thought i would let you know i changed the fuel filter and it has been several days and that fixed the problem, it must have needed a new one bad because it is noticeably running better and it fized the starting problem too. thaks again!!
