Ball joints not out.

The ball joints on my 1994 4x4 4cyl appear to be brand new. However when I move the tires with my hands it feels like they are out because of the little amount of play. What could I be over looking?

Tie rods or wheel bearings are common. Get a friend to move the tire while you look for moving parts.

On 2wd's usually the wheel bearings will be the source of this. If the grease looks good, just readjust the bearings to zero end play.

if it has play from left to right then it could be tie rod inner or outer, ball joints. if it has play from up to down than check the wheel bearing. if it is very slight then you might get away with just repacking them, if it is excessive then you might need to replace it.
