I have 3/8" side play in my lower ball joint (left)

In the tech library all it talks about the right side removal and install, how is the left side w/ the short axle.

What i am really asking is do i need to remove the pumpkin off of the TTB arm:thefinger::bawling:, or can you pull it out like a FWD axle half shaft.

Cut the clamp on the big end of the slip joint boot. Pull the boot back and then pull the shaft out of the slip yoke as you pull it out of the steering knuckle. Use a zip tie in place of the clamp when you put it back together.

The short shaft on the drivers side just slips out of the diff, there is no c clip on that side to hold it into the diff.

How does the passenger side axle come out. I am planning to replace all balljoints and front u joints this weekend. Ive never had the d35 apart further than the hubs and disks.

anyone that ever does take it apart.. I highly recommend the c-clip elim (with the chainsaw spring) and that makes things SOOO much easier in the future.

Or cut the metal clamp and put the boot back on with zip ties since it is a non-critical part and the zip ties will hold it well enough.

The passenger side axle shaft goes into a stub shaft, which goes into the differential. You just need to disconnect the axle shaft from the stub shaft. Cut the clamp on the rubber boot and then you can just pull the axle shaft right out. Here's a picture of the axle shaft removed and the rubber boot on the stub shaft just hanging there:
