95 ranger 4x4 lifted with a 6inch lift, 2inch body . around 55 mph it feels smooth as glass. when you go above 55 around 65-70 it has a wicked shimmy. you can feel it through out the entire truck. and a little in the steering wheel. Every thing in the front end feels tight. wheel bearings are good. ball joints are good. iam running 33inch pro comp mt tires on 15-10 wheels and thought it was the mud tire so i put on some 15-8 wheels with a bfg a/t tire and it still doing it. i can't for the life of me figure it out. if you stay under 55 it drives great. :icon_confused:

Had an alignment recently?

Sounds to me like the wheels or wheel are out of balance. Maybe a couple of weights fell off one of th wheels.

I agree. Rotate the tires front to back and see what you get. An out of round or out of balance tire won't be near as noticeable on the back- so if it improves after a front-to-back rotation, suspect one of those tires/wheels that you moved to the back.

Of course you said you swapped some of them already? The whole set?

I was thinking the wheels needed balanced too, but he said he swapped on a different set so thats unlikely.

6 inches of lift you say?

Still running a 1-piece drive shaft? I'm thinking carrier bearing. Or U-joints. But mostly carrier bearing.

has a one piece shaft. i did notice i can move the trans up and down a bit. the trans mount is on its last leg out..

Well, get your trans mount fixed and then move from there. Its one of those things, now that I know that I gotta say "Found A problem. Can't say if its THE problem, but its certainly A problem."

fixed the trans mount... feels a little better but its still their.

Check your U-joints, or just replace them if they are older.

I'd also go get the tires balanced, just for fun. Its a common issue, and weights do fall off.

Have the same kind of problem, turned out to be the rear pinion nut was loose !

the problem was all in the trans mount.. didnt think that it being that worn it would throw the truck off that much... was cruzin down the highway at 74 and truck felt good... only vibration now is the lovely mud tires..
