I would think that if it was the DS that when you pushed the clutch in it the vibration would ether go away or change a little.....my guess is something else, tires, suspension, etc.........how are your leafsping hangers and shackles

I agree, tires or U-joints.

In my experience, vibration at 30-50 is a bad tire (shifted belt, blown belt, bulged sidewall).

Vibration at 50-70 is either tire balancing or U-joints. Generally bad U-joints will have a whole truck shake kind of feel to it, while tire balancing issues will feel a little shaky in the ass or the steering wheel.

would a bent rim on the right rear create a vibration at 55 but not at 30 or 70

Any chance there's a chunk of ice built up in one of your rims?

No, a bent rim would be noticeable at pretty much any speed. Obviously depending on how bent it is. haha. If it's not too bad you might not notice it at lower speeds.

No ice build up, just bought it a week ago. it had a bad exhaust so i thought it was a vibration from that. had the exhaust fixed last friday. feels like the hole truck shakes 165,000 miles anybody think the trans might be bad? :dunno:

Broken cord in a tire? look for a bulge in the tread/sidewall of all your tires. Lots of potholes in MI roads.

have you got under the truck and checked anything out yet? how do the u-joints feel? how much play in the Drive shaft? if it has a carrier bearing, what kind of shape is it in?
Did you feel or see any bulges in the tires? Does it look like a weight fell off any of the wheels(a clean spot)?
we could all guess all day at this, but you need to start eliminating possibilities. Doubt it's the trans.

Do you feel the vibe more in the seat (rear) or the steering wheel (front)? More of a buzz type vibe or thump, thump, in between? Changes with vehicle speed? Side to side or up & down? To me it seems like tire. Bearings will hum & a trans will will usually make bad noises. If your tires are worn they may just all be out of balance.
