What all is affected if the vacuum canister leaks down? Mine isn't holding vacuum well, and I'm wondering if that's causing any problems.

I went ahead and took it apart to see what was going on and it's just an empty can with a check valve built into one of the nozzles. I'm thinking instead of 50 bucks for another can, I'll seal this one back up and install a new inline check valve.

I wire wheeled the hell out of this thing untill all the rust was gone. Here's a picture from when I finished painting. It looks/works like new, and the best part is it didn't cost me $50.
