Bad shifting/ lots of trouble lights

Hope this is the right forum for this question, so point me to the right forum if not here.
1999 2wd 3.0 flexfuel with 125K miles.
This thing just suddenly went crazy on me, Here are the symptoms,
Transmision sometimes does not want to shift on time or acts like it not going to shift, sometimes it shifts really hard, sometimes it seems I left the emergency brake on. This all in 1 time around the block! and it just started today.
Also;
ABS light is on
Check engine light is on
OD/off light comes and goes
Speedo comes and goes

Not even sure where to start, Seems like it is probably electrical. I have checked the trans fluid it is OK and not burnt smelling or real dirty.

Any pointers on where to start??

well older rangers are known for trans slippage, but as for the lights, maybe you got your ecu wet or something. thats really weird.

I would suggest having the truck scanned however, I don't think you will find anything useful. This almost sounds like a low voltage situation where the computer is not getting good power or ground. Check the voltage at the computer and let us know what you find. Also, is your battery light on? Be sure the bulb is good.

In some cars, I like to unplug the warning lights =) problem gone!

I vote for low voltage also, but might be caused by a bad ground. Start checking all the ground connectors and there are lots of them.

That won't fix the shifting issues.
