Bad Pool Caller - Windows 7

I got a new laptop since my Acer was crapping out on me.

I got a HP Pavilion M6 with Windows 7.

I have my printer and vinyl cutter hooked up to a USB hub that offers (3) usb ports. Instead of plugging the printer and cutter in to the laptop, I just plug in the usb hub in to one of the usb ports.

The problem is that when I'm done using the printer or cutter, unplug the usb hub, and close my laptop lid, I get a 'bad pool caller' blue screen error when I open the lid back up. I only get that error after I've used the usb hub. Is this due to a problem with the hub, or a computer problem?

Check your drivers. See if they are windows 7 drivers or older ones.
Do you get the error if you don't use the USB hub, just plug the devices directly into your computer?
Do you get the error with only using the printer.or only the vinal cutter?

What version of windows 7 are you running? 32 or 64 bit. Home premium ultimate?
Do you eject or remove the devices software side before you unplug? Or just unplug.?

Windows 7 64 bit (not sure which one).

I thought it was my cutter. But today I only used the printer and the same thing happened. That's when I figured it must be the usb hub. I'll use the cutter and printer directly and see if I still have a problem.

I agree, it sounds like a driver issue. I would do an update and see if windows can find better drivers. I would suspect it's the driver for the hub rather than the printer or cutter.

Maybe I just need to get a new hub.

Bad Pool Caller? My gosh, Microsoft sure has come up with some interesting messages on your computer Jim...maybe they are hacking it because they all drive Chevies...lol

But I'd have to agree...driver related...just fixed a similar situation on my friends computer where it would actually shut down the computer when she used a USB wifi stick and opened the internet...

Anyway, could also be an actual pool caller in your computer behind the 8 ball or beach ball, depending on what pool is there...turn it upside down and shake it like an etchasketch and if you have water coming out or hear balls clacking together you will know which one it is...

is it a powered or non powered usb hub. I have seen some of the cheap non powered hubs cause havoc on windows machines. Especially on laptops as they try to do power conservation. We had a machine that would just do the usb disconnected and connected sound out of the blue like every 5 mins with one of them. Switched to a powered hub and all went away. Also how long are your USB cables? anything with a combined length of over 15 feet you need an active cable. Also a websearch pointed to a firewall called "ZoneAlarm" if you have that you might try disabling it as well.
