I have a 94 Ranger 2.3 lt. running some what rich. kind of chokes and stutters at idle. Alittle bit better at high RPM milage is down to about 14MPG.
Recently this happend and it was a bad o2 sensore. I replaced it again ( under arranty ) and no affect. It has the coeds 558 and 335 in it Any help would be appreciated. as far as i can tell the egr valve is ok. It opens closes when a vacuum pup is applied. H E L P !!!!!!

Brian

like i told you in the other thread you posted, try replacing the DPFE. There is no way to test them as far as i know, and they are a common failure item.

after looking at the codes again, did you notice a change in the idle when you pulled the vaccum line from the EGR valve? try plugging the line when it's off of the EGR and see if anything changes. could be the silenoid going bad too.

OK, I replaced the dpfe, no change. I did pull the vacuum line off of the EGR valve and it smoothed out a LOT. Plug off the hose and it goes back to running bad. what does the selnoid do/
thanks,
Brian
