I've tested the wiring harness to the pcm and all components related to the maf (no faults). Error code p0102 (maf input too low) is the only code that has come up enough the throw the cel (I've also found codes mixture rich bank 1&2). Idle maf reading are within spec but once you touch the throttle the cel is triggered. I took it out for a test run and the transmission (4.0L 5r55e) shifts very hard. 1 to 2 is the worst (jerks very hard). Would a faulty maf cause abnormal shifting with automatic tranny's? It never shifted this hard before and the tranny was rebuilt by a former ford tech (shift kit installed as well).

yes they can be related. i had a major brain fart once and forgot to plug in my MAF harness. there was a very hard 1 to 2 shift and the truck sputtered a lot and would stall. also the CEL came on too. once i plugged it back in the problems went away. then i smacked myself for forgetting to plug it in lol
