Bad luck or does God really just hate me that much?

So yesterday im filling my radiator up with water to see if there are any leaks from the newly installed 2.3 i rebuilt and put in my truck. Their happened to be a leak coming out of the thermostat housing, so i check to see if the bolts are tight. Turns out they were really really loose. I go to tighten them up a little bit and SNAP! one of them breaks off. Ok, so now ive got to either get the bolt out of the head or take the head off and have it drilled out by someone who knows how to get it out.

The worst part about this is that this is the 3rd bolt too break, and ive had to take the head off 4 times now. I dont think cars like me, or God really doesnt want me to finish my truck.

Sucks to be you man. Sorry.

Have you re-used the old bolts or were they new ones?

If I were you I would invest in an inch pound torque wrench! LOL!

Used newer bolts. Yeah it sucks and i was literally 5 minutes away from starting my truck up for the first time in about a year...

oh and i did torque down the bolts, and they leaked like a hose when they were torqued to specifications.

Can you use a center punch and back out the snapped stud?

Going to try that sometime this week. Last time i tried that i messed up the hole worse then it already was (never used one before) and had to take the head off to get it "professionally" taken out.

A few years ago I invested in a set of left hand drill bits. They drill in the counter rotation direction. I find that most small bolts just back out as soon as the bit bites into them. Most sets are about $28. Money well spent if you ask me. Just center punch the bolt and take your time. Also you may want to purchase a good set of bottom thread taps and clean out the threads, especially on an older engine this helps.

Yep. Just drill and tap.

FYI: you put the wrong bolt in the hole and bottomed it out. That's why it was all loose when it was torqued. I do it all the time.

If God hated you, you would come home from Iraq to a pregnant wife, divorce remarry only to have her run off when she was done using you, and take your little girl away from you, move to new york and then find reason why you cant see her, while still trying to pretend shes your friend.

Nope, you just have a fawking little bolt stuck in your truck. GO to the parts store by one of the 'back out kits' and a small drill bit. I broke a valve cover bolt off in my mustang and this bit goes in a dril but is reverse cut to dig in and back out the bolt. Takes all of 15 bux and twenty minutes.

I'm not saying God hates me but my car sure does.

Blackdog, I'm going to make it a clear as I can:

GOD DOES NOT HATE YOU!!!!!!!!!

He's just getting you ready for something down the road. Believe me on this. There are MUCH worse things than broken bolts.

You'll have your truck ready when God needs it and you for something special.
