Bad luck or does God really just hate me that much?

If you take the housing off isnt there the top part of the bolt broken sticking up enough to get with a vise or good pair of channel locks?

Broken bolt is nothing dude. Could of been worse, could of been on the first drive and it through a rod or something and just killed your new engine. Everyone has there streak of bad luck times, your is just now and it will pass.

I snapped the same thermostat housing bolt on my nephews 2.9L and was about to try another one and I remembered the Coke machine incident

(The first 3 coins dropped in the fourth disappeared somewhere in there, so I kept adding more coins until I sunk $3 in the damn machine!...I really wanted a damn Coke)

so now he only has 2 bolts holding it on and no new thermostat

I'll do the other ones when I have a welder available (Weld a different bolt head on it and extract it)
