Bad Idle Problem

My 86 Ranger 2wd 2.3L 5 sp is having this weird thing going on. When I go to start it up, it takes control all by itself and starts revving up and down all on its own. Checked my accelerator linkage and everything seems to be fine. Anyone have any ideas?

you more than likely have a bad sensor(s) or vacuum leak or a combination of both. Pull the codes (tech section has info) and start from there.
