A properly suspensioned Ranger can be safely airborne for up to 4 seconds at a time! =:O
Hey, me again... still staging everything for the cooling system flush and total hose replacement curse-and-swear day of fun.

I've always considered those tabbed hose clamps to be a lame compromise that Ford made for the sake of quick assembly at the factory... OTOH, they've not leaked a drop in 9 years, so... is it wise to re-use them with the new virgin hoses???

I don't like the classic worm-gear clamps, because the dozens of slots cut into the hose. Who makes the choice smooth banded clamps?

Thanks in advance...

those tabbed clamps as you call them are actually spring clamps, namely they are made out of spring steel. as long as they still have good tension i would say re-use them. if you don't feel comfortable re-using them you can get replacements at most auto parts stores. as to your next question, i am not sure what kind of clamp they are but i have seen hose clamps that have an actual bolt and nut assembly that resembles a spring clamp in that they are smooth surface, that i believe are still available. as i am sure MAKG may see this post maybe he can help me with that issue

I get the banded hose clamps at a local hose store (yes, it is a hose store, it's actually called "Allen's hose n' all"). They stiill have the ring gear on the outside but also have a smooth band inside to protect the hose.

LOL... is that right next to The Scotch Tape Store? Are Allen's employees called... HOSERS? :D Sorry, couldn't resist.

T-clamps, people use them often on boost tubes, on cars with forced induction.

i would think a regular worm drive hose clamp would be sufficient on coolant hoses, especially since t-clamps can get expensive. they also make worm drive clamps with an inner liner to protect soft hoses, such as silicone. i would think autozone would have those since they try and market to the 'tuners'.
