I have a 2002 ford ranger xlt v-6. Runs great. Idles smooth. Engine start and stop is very short. Normal wear on spark plugs. What's wrong?

Buy a locking gas cap, or move.

Release the parking brake. ?

Ok, seriously. How clean is the air filter? What else have you checked? Which v6 is it? What other mods have been done to the truck? Big tires? Lift? Huge square billboard bolted on top acting as air brakes?

There's 10lbs of sand in your tank?

...and to add how often is your foot on the floor?

And what's the actual gas mileage?

125 miles per tank is about 8mpg. It is not physically possible to use that much fuel without having serious issues. It would be throwing a ton of DTC's and smoking like a broken tractor.

So if the engine is running fine with no DTC's there's 2 possibilities. You're bad at math, or someones stealing your gas.

Or... We should discuss how much fuel is actually being put in to refill at 125 miles.

Or how far up the side of the tank the hole is.

Whatever $15.00 will get. The other $5.00 is for the lottery ticket.

Well that goes with my bad math diagnosis...

My 460 gets 13.

Somethings a miss here.
