Does anyone know where you can buy a diode that will fit a 1987 Mazda B2600 alternator?

Does Radio Shack sell diodes that will fit for replacing a bad diode in a alternator?

LOL radio shack is only good for cell phones anymore. You will have to find a local shop that specializes in alternator rebuilding/repair. They will be able to find the correct replacement.

i dont think your going to be able to find just a diode for it, and if you do you are going to have to replace all 6, they are matched so one or two of them do not become overloaded. this is just for the diodes: http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,carcode,1190595,parttype,2452

fyi: radioshack dosent have crap for components, i go to a local place called norvac electronics

You can find them at an industrial electronics source such as Newark Electronics of Allied Electronics.(Google them) I know you will locate them they both have 2-3 in thick catalogs

Ron V :) :) :)

I just checked them out onlince.

They sell a lot of 12 volt diodes.

Do you have any idea which one of their diodes would work best in a Mazda alternator.

I think for the effort and money you are going to expend finding a replacing the bad diode(s) you will find that just buying a new regulator and bolting it in there will be a much better option.

What does a used alternator sell for in a junkyard there?

Around here a lot of older vehicles have been getting crushed for scap iron.

Agreed, the "Salvage Yard" only has vehicles as old as 10 years, the older ones get scraped. :bawling:

It seems that there are very few salvage yards around with "old stock", the stuff is moving fast, rather than sitting in the back of the lot for 20 years, sad.

the last alternator I bought was for a 16 year old honda and I paid 35 dollars for it. No guarantee. which is pretty normal around here for anything electrical in nature.

And the junkyard where I have been savaging parts from has 3 old rangers and a bunch of explorers. ALso around here we have a OLD scrap yard . the man collects Nothing under 15 years usually 20-25 years. I have no idea how he makes money. but hes been there forever.

hes got no rangers =< mostly mustangs and mercurys.
