Bad alternator, rpm cut out. fix

Ever since i bought my 2.3 with 122k the engine would start to cut out around 3600 and the battery light would flash, I thought it was just the way it ran. After my alternator started to die (battery light began to stay on all the time, and I checked the alternator) I installed a new alternator, battery (it needed to be changed), and fuel filter also needed to be changed, problem gone, smooth thru to 5000 rpms...
