I'd like to add some auxilliary back-up lights to my Ranger and I'd like to install them with a relay. Where's the back-up lights switch located on a
5R55E transmission?

DTR = Digital Transmission Range Sensor, mounted to the shift input on the transmission. Not gonna be able to tap directly into that. It tells the PCM where the shifter is using varying resistance values.

I'd suggest you tap into the reverse lights power wire itself, using its power to pull in a relay coil, controlling a separate power supply (fused) for the additional lighting circuit.

Rethink messing with the wiring there.

Instead add your realy somewhere in back and use the power to the
factory lights to control the relay.

It really isn't any more difficult to run a control wire AND a power wire
than it is to add just ONE wire.

OR you can tap into the wiring at the connector where the cab
harness connects to the frame harness.
