Ok, I'm sure that someone has done it.

Who has but put a B2 tire carrier on their Ranger?

I think they are generally a bit too tall... Im sure you could modify it to fit, but once your going that far, might as well go full custom.

It is a tad bit tall. I know a guy who did it in high school, but I don't know if I can still get a hold of him.

Plus I came across one cheap.

You better reinforce the bedside if you do. The Bronco hasa big reinforcement plate inside the qtr to hold the weight. The bedside on the ranger is a single thickness sheetmetal and will not hold up to the weight especially when it is swung around.

Yeah, I would say the easiest option would be to put a vertical bar up off the bumper to mount it to, but that might obscure your tail lights, so some custom reinforcing behind the sheet metal might be in order...

What sort of info are you after?
Do you have the mounting part too, that attaches to the hatch?
Maybe you could modify the latch to run along the angled bar, so you could mount the latch mid-tail gate?

It will work. You bought the whole kit with the mounts and all? I had one on my 83 Ranger and it worked out really well. I don't have any pictures of it. I sold my Ranger about three weeks after I got it mounted. I had to get a fab friend of mine to help me mount the outside brackets to the inside of the bed (drill and small weld job). My buddy wanted to be mounted so it would not ever come loose or brake. He also made a latch and hook set up so I could run with the tail gate down and the tire would stay snug against the far right side of the bed and not move at all. Sometimes you need to haul really long stuff...lol. The latch set up to hold the tire in place worked out perfect. It looked at home when the tire was in the closed position!!! It did not really not sit up too high. It looked really good. I used one off of a 87 BII. I bought it brand new at the Ford dealer. I think you will like it!!!

Is this for an off-roading truck? My old B2 gate was in nasty shape after the beating it took off road with the weight of that tire bouncing around....

This is for a street truck. I have the whole carrier, complete from the brackets that bolt to the body out to the leather cover.

I talked to another guy who did this this weekend, and he said he just bolted it on, put some angle iron in for the top mount, and went to town. He just had to be careful closing it because it would catch the tail gate.

ive got one from a gmc jimmy that i am going to put on rangebe. Ill post pics, maybe do it next weekend.
