I am in the process of installing a PA 3" Body Lift on my 96' B4000 4.0 4x4. All is going well except for the steering shaft. I need to disconnect the upper shaft from the lower shaft so I can put the extender on it.

I removed the bolt holding them together, but the damn thing wont budge. The instructions make it sound like cake by saying "Slide the lower shaft off of the upper shaft."
Are there any tricks to removing it guys? :icon_confused:

Here is a picture of the shafts connected. I circled where I removed the bolt that joins the two shafts.

dont worry about it yet. go ahead and start jacking the trucks body up. as the body lifts up, the shafts will slide apart

Right on man.
Wish me luck! I would do it in my heated garage, but the truck wouldn't fit out the garage door after the lift is installed! Oh well, I'll just suck it up and get to wrenching in sub-freezing temperatures. :icon_cheers:

you shouldnt need too much luck, its not too bad, and hey what i did with my gf's parents small garage, is once i finished i got 5 people to sit in it to weigh it down. you can also deflate the tires to fit out if you dont have that many people around

Thanks for all the advice Koty. I appreciate it.
