ok so i posted this in the b2 forum but no one responded in 8 hours and i need it soon. idk exactly what drive shaft and i need a new one cause mine just busted today i have a 84 b2 4x4 with manual 4 speed tranny would u guys know which one i have cause it broke right at the ujoint i beleive but im not sure.

U-joint shafts hold up the best, the ones that usually blow apart have a big sort of tulip shaped end (known as a CV shaft).

IIRC, any stock BII shaft should swap to another stock BII.

from what i heard at the parts house autos and standards are different drive shafts is that true?

No. Both used the same transfer case and the same rear axle, so the mounting is the same. I've swapped rear driveshafts between my BIIs with no issues.

Aren't there length issues between the TKs and the C-series trannies that don't exist in 88+ B2s?

yea thats what i was thinking cause i beleive i have the tk atleast that is what i read up on here

I don't think so... I know the rear driveshaft on my 89 choptop (fm-146 manual) came out of an 85/86 BII (a4ld auto). The shaft in my choptop went in my 88 BII (a4ld).

It might be possible that there is a difference with the C-series autos, but those were confined to 83-85, IIRC. I haven't owned one of those yet so I have no experience. I believe the C-series they used were non-overdrive trans if memory serves me correctly, the a4ld was the only overdrive trans they used.
