Thanks! No, I'm just an amateur photog. I used 2 cameras for these shots, a Nikon D300, with a 105mm f/2.8 VR lens, and a Nikon D70 with a 10.5mm f/2.8 fisheye lens.......

wow..that sounds insanely technical to the point of a confuzzled me, I understood "Nikon" "x-mm" and "fisheye lens"..haha, but then again maybe thats just cuz the only camera I really anything about is the camera on my phone! Tell me though, is that anything like what actual professionals could use? My gf has always been pretty interested in photography so I kinda want to help her out with it but have absolutely no idea where to start...

Yes, professionals use what's called a DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) where lenses can be changed. The biggest difference between P&S and DSLR digital cameras is the size of the sensor (CCD or CMOS). The sensor in a DSLR is a lot larger, with larger pixels, which gives a stronger signal, making the S/N much better at high ISOs. Of course, DSLRs cost more than P&Ss.

Then you turn into my wife and develop a lense addiction which is a very effective way to make thousands of dollars disappear.

Exactly! Good glass is expensive, but the sharpness and color in your photos show the difference!

good equipment does not guarantee good results. I suspect that Bob could get good results with a shoe box with a hole in one end.

you know what they say about the size of a mans sensor

:icon_thumby: When were the photos taken? Most of the Azaleas around here lost their blooms about a month ago.

Fantastic, Bob. Simply fantastic.
