axle shaft slides out a little

Sounds like an Auburn. As said, there is no Torsen diff for the 7.5 and it doesn't use any springs.

No to mention if there were springs you couldn't see it with the way the carrier is designed...

Who said that?

Where do I start lookin for an issue.

With your understanding of the normal operation. Your condition is normal. 3/16 to 1/4 inch of in/out play is pretty normal for these axles. They have to move in and out to get the c-clips on and off. The cross pin holds them from moving in too far during operation, and when moving straight ahead, they tend to pull out wards a hair.

The only reason im concerned is its enuff to feel while driving. When I make a right hand turn the rear end shifts then clunks. And the do not remove cap is loose. This is why im assuming the diff is bad. Auburn says not to remove the cap anybody know why?

Alright, you lost me man. I am pretty familiar with the standard issue Ford rear and I have no clue what you mean by the "do not remove cap".

Sorry about the link I cant afford to drain the rear end again right now. but the macined cap at the top of the diff is what im refering to.

Its the shiny part on top> it doesnt say "do not remove" directly on it, Auburn has it posted on their site.

So you have this

You can't feel a shaft 1/4" I would bet money on that since every cclip axle will do that. Maybe what you are hearing is a bad bearing or chatter from the ls, but it has jack shit to do with the axle shaft working like every cclip axle ever built.
