the bearings in a '99 were a pain to get out. puller did no good, at least not my puller.
broke the sides off with a chisel and commenced to grinding.
cutting a diagonal line with a small cut off wheel wasn't working, could not see the depth of the cut nor reach the inside.
I found that a 1/4" cylinder on a hi speed Dremel did OK. cut at a straight angle and could monitor the depth.
when it was down to paper thin it popped and then I removed it with fingers. almost no damage to the housing bore.

as always, your method may vary.

Been there and done that! I picked up a 10 pound slide hammer a while back and have yet to have a bearing say no to that thing though!

I had an "improvised" slide hammer, AKA threaded rod with big washers. a real one is now on my shopping list.

Gotta do what you gotta do.

I made this little gem for mine... So far it has worked every time.
