I have a 03 edge 4.0 with a 8.8 rear end 4.10 gears would the axel shaft from a 07 ranger 7.5 rear work in my 8.8 I've read it should bit I want to be sure thanks in advance #rangernation

As long as the wheel base and transmission are the same, it should. I would strongly recommend comparing it to what you have now before you buy. The old one has to come off anyway.

They should be the same, regardless of wheelbase and transmission.

What is important is that you're on the same side of the '92-'93 width changeover date ('93+ being wider), and that it's for the correct side (left or right).
A '07 shaft should fit a '03 no problem (as long as neither are an FX4 model with the Torsen 8.8" axle).

EDIT: I somehow completely misread the question some how. A 7.5 should swap out with an 8.8. Depending on what brakes you have, You might need to swap them over to the new axle. Possibly the pinion flange. Though those tend to be the same most of the time but I have read where people found the flanges to be different.

It looks to me he just wants to change out a rear shaft, not the whole axle. (guessing worn wheel bearing journal or bent flange).

7.5" and 8.8" axle shafts will interchange, as long as the criteria I mentioned above is met.

I was tboned and impact bent my axle just slightly but I'd rather change it now then deal with worn tire or it damaging axle itself

That's smart
