Autozone will not pay

Holy shit. Screw the raise, there is not much you can do. Trust me I've been there. But it is ILLEGAL for them to make you work off the clock.

They do that. OReillys is the same way. People are dispensable.

It sucks, but work at it some more and try to get your lost wages. I'm rooting forya, but these companies have so many ties and tape to cut through, it'll take forever and you will give up. You MUST go high to achieve anything, past the district manager.

And I agree. Make sure you have your title/role, and pay checks/printouts in hardcopy format.

Hi I have read your entry and would like to look into the issue. I work at the Corporate Office of AutoZone as a cyber Investigator. Please contact me at scott.koch@autozone.com. If you have documention that would help. I will reveiw your case and take it to AutoZone relations for review.

a cyber investigator? even if i thought that was a real position, why would a cyber investigator help someone with a payroll/raise problem. what an idiot

In this digital age, many companies have employees that do nothing but web searches for key words. AutoZone being one of them. Most of the time it will be people checking employees for posting on facebook, myspace, etc...to ensure they are not bad mouthing the company-or doing it on company time.

Likewise, it makes sense auto parts houses would have people scanning repair forums. I'm not saying this guy is for "Real"? However it's also true the people sitting behind the big desk in the main office knows only what appears on a spreadsheet---and not each employee. It makes it all to easy for a greedy bastage of a store manager, or district manager to promise a lot...screw the employee over...All for the sakes of keeping their district/store P&L where they want--which can translate into additional compensation to their pocket--and not at the front line people that actually DO the hands on work. It's quite possible the 'home office' is not aware of the hosing the local/district manager is giving to employees.

Hmmm - I'm with 88_Eddie on this one. Let's just see what AZ CORP does. All I can say about labor relations is document document document. I've learned that from both sides of the management role.

Search his name. I can't find anything about him on Autozones site, but he has registered on as many other forums as possible. Hmmmm. Identity thief maybe?

I am as real as it gets

In response to who I am and what I do. I am truely a cyber and a Organized Crime Investigator. As one person put it, these days it pays to watch the internet and on a daily basis I monitor Facebook / My Space and many other social network sites. I do watch for inappropiate things current employees post. I also monitor e-bay and craigslist for possible stolen items. When I come across a post like this one I try and connect the people creating the post with the appropiate people here at the Corporate Office. I have found in most cases that issues can be settled fairly quickly when we get involved (don't get me wrong if the proper channels have not been folllowed, I will direct someone back) As far who I am feel free to contact me at my number in Memphis, TN 901-495-6500. I will happy to talk to you about my job. I am only here to extend my help in any matter that involves the company. Scott Koch

I am really not an "idiot" 88_Eddie. And that is true never give out you Social Security or any other personal number. I actually work at AutoZone and you being a past employee he have all the information we need to confirm who you are. Scott

Welcome to retail management. Been there, done that. Your mistake was working off the clock in the first place, OTOH if you don't then any chance of further promotion is gone and they'll look to replace you with someone who will. K-Mart still owes me a day off with pay from 1982. Normally when you are in "management" you are classified as an "exempt" employee, meaning exempt from overtime, minimum wage, etc., essentially a glorified stockboy who works for cheap, if not free.

See if the purported AZ rep here can help you. If not, take them to court. You can go to a local magistrate and file yourself, you won't need a lawyer. My wife did that a couple years ago with her former employer who still owed her several hundred dollars in travel expenses after she quit. Her dept. director essentially told her to kiss off and he wasn't reimbursing her because he didn't want to (you can see one reason why she quit). She had the all documentation (she IS an accountant) and the day before her court date we get a call from an executive VP at the corporate office, asking what this is all about. She explains, he asks if we could postpone the court date, and she had a check via FedEx the next day. Don't know if her former director got into trouble about it, but we hope so.

Ideally you should try to get AZ into the position that paying you is cheaper for them than paying lawyers.

Ideally AZ and any other rip-off should be made to pay through the nose so they never do that to anyone.Unfortunately the small guy never has the resources to pursue such an action.

Richard

I think some people are suspicious because your posts contain multiple spelling and grammatical issues. Just sayin'.
