So im doing research preparing to build my Street Truck. I will have a Carbed Windsor style SBF pushin somewhere in the 600HP 600 Tq. range, maybe more maybe less. I want an automatic with a floor shifter that doesnt require a Computer to operate, and is streetable even tho the truck will frequent the strip more often than not. What trans do i need to find??
Thanks For your Help

Do you want over drive or not?

Small block c6, c4 or the AOD would all work for you depending on how you build them.

Im not real particular if i get OD or not. Are they all Mechanical transmissions??? i dont want to run any more wiring than i have to. and what do they come in???
Thanks
Beef

And yes, all those do not require any PCM control.

The C6 and C4 are 3 speed trannys, no overdirve.

The AOD is an overdrive 4 speed transmission.

How much power can a C6 or AOD handle from the factory???

You are going to want to build a C6. All of these transmission will hold 600hp if built for it. You are going to spend the most on an AOD, then a C4 and C6 the cheapest. If I remember correctly the AOD is rated around 300 max hp in stock form for a later model unit and I would imagine a C6 being a similar rating but it able to handle closer to 400 with no issue. A C6 will comsume the most power but each has it's pros and cons. The strongest cheapest bang for the buck would be a C6.

Well, i was thinkin today at work and remembered that TCI is owned by Comp Performance Group, and it just so happens that im a Comp Dealer. so i might just buy a C6 Super Street Fighter From TCI. Jegs has one for $1000 so i bet i could get one a little cheaper than that.
Thanks For the info guys

C4 wouldbe your best bet as the aftermarket support is better then it is for the C6 and you can get a C4 to handle big HP for less then a C6 would cost. Plus look at the better benifit the C4 takes less power form the engine and its smaller so it fit alot easier then the C6. :headbang:

C4 > C6
C4 for the win here.
