I have a 2001 ranger xlt 2.5 and I want to know how to remove the shift knob from the lever on an AUTOMATIC with an overdrive button

I have searched a billion times and thats why I capped auto in hopes future people dont have this issue

I would think at this point changing a shift knob on a manual would be common knowledge but thats all I can seem to find info on

anyway how on earth do I get that thing off of there? is it just pressed on is there a screw im not seeing?

I want to relocate the OD button and change the knob simply for the SnG's

any help is appreciated thanks in advance

You are probably the only one in the world who has ever wanted to do that. Just drive it and be glad you have something that runs good.

or not... thanks for ALL the help there buddy but I know I cant be the only one to do something like this

and for anyones future knowledge it is a press on part

I relocated the OD to the dash and added my grenade shift knob

im happy with it and thats all that matters
