Automatic Braking Mandated by Fed, 2029 deadline

I had a rental car a few years back, covered in ice from an ice storm. Very difficult to drive with all the sensors covered in ice, lots of loud beeping and random braking.

Wife's car likes to brake randomly when coming up on a sharp curve because it thinks we're going to crash into a tree.

Automatic braking is for people who aren't paying attention- for example, texting while driving. I hadn't thought about what it would do on an icy road but a sudden brake application on a slippery surface is a bad idea.

Yep. Slick conditions and automatic things don’t play nice. That’s why you’re not supposed to use cruise control in rain or snow, hit a slick spot and the computer tries to correct and it can throw you out of control. I think a lot of accidents happen because people don’t want to pay attention to driving, they want the car to do all the work so they can play on their phone or whatever.

Exactly. I also think the general cacoon feeling modern cars give you makes you feel youre in no danger either
