I'm needing some feedback/guidance as to which transport company to use. I just sold a 72 EB on ebay to a Dr. in Dallas, TX. I told him I'd try to help out with locating a reputible (sp?) transport company. Only thing is, I don't know sh!t about it. I done a few online quotes and got everything from $600-$1200.

What I do know:
Pick up in Knoxville, TN
Deliver to Dallas, TX
Would really prefer an enclosed trailer and full coverage insurance of $50K.

Anyone know where to look?

This is what's going.

i think ive seen your truck before. i run around the secret city all the time. im usually around the walmart area bc i have a couple friends that live in the manhattans. u seen that scout for sale over by walgreens?

I can tell you that your gonna be running 1200.00 for that distance with that level of insurance valuation (i setup shipments like this from time to time with a local carrier).. I would start off on your calls telling them how many feet of deckspace you need and not what your transporting..

ie 13 foot of space front to back that way you dont get messed with.

just my .02 from someone in the industry..

Be very careful. There are many fly-by-night outfits out there. And I mean MANY. Check auto shipping forums.

I tried to ship a car from the mid-west to the west coast. Everything was perfect - all conversations led me to believe all was well. I faxed the directions to the main company, talked to the owner, etc. I was under the gun for shipment and needed the car there by a certain date. They said no problem. Only thing - the driver never showed and I never heard another word from them. Was not able to contact them again. Fortunately no money was exchanged so I wasn't out anything.

When I checked the forums there were literally hundreds of complaints about many, many shippers. From not showing, delivering to the wrong city (the cops finally found the car), damage, being stripped and so on. There were enough complaints I was actually shocked.

That said, I have a very good friend that shipped his car from San Diego to Dallas w/out problems. Just a word to the wise. Do your homework and feel comfortable before you commit. If I were going to ship a vehicle again the first place I'd check is Hemmings. Then I'd do my research.

That's what I'm afraid of. If I had an enclosed trailer I'd deliver myself. Bronco sold for $30K so I want it to show up in one piece.

My neighbor does transport but he doesn't use an enclosed trailer.

I'd do transport if I didn't have a full time job.

i live near dallas, i'll drive it down for ya :P
