u leave the bracket in there. everything is the same, just remember where your bushings and "wavy" washers goe. i didnt mess with the clutch interlock. btw when u put the clutch pedal on push the ebrake to the floor. there is a little black box in that vicinity that is ground with a wire going to a tab on it BE CAREFUL NOT TO BRAKE THAT!!! thats for your wipers. i broke mine a while back and had to take a wire to the grounding wire and run a screw in under the dash to ground it, and i had to ziptie it out of the way. now i have no low intermittan for some reason, just the fastest intermittant...btw if anyone has ideas for that let me know. anyways the big wire look under the dash will kinda be in the way.it took me longer to get the clutch pedal/rod off at the j/y then it did to put it in my rig. just take patience but i didnt have to take anything off.
btw if u havent gotten the pedals i have them for sale, as well as the master/resivior, clutch line from a 84 with fm145 for sale. the master is the same as the fm146/m5od, the line is different on the trans end but u might could get the new quick disco fitting put on at a hose shop. i bought all that stuff from a member and he dicked around and i ended up having to go to the jy to get my pedals, then drop about 500 bucks at advance for new master, lines, slave, flywheel, clutchkit, all that. im just selling it to get some of my money back and get rid of parts laying in my closet
what trans are u using? im going to go ahead and tell u if its fm146(not sure bout the m5od, i have one laying around i can measure and measure my fm146) u will need 1" longer engine to bellhousing bolts. i cant remember but i think i was able to reuse the top bolts that i had and only needed longer bottom 2. ill look tomorrow if its not raining and let u know. i just got finished with my swap not too long ago.was my first time going from auto-5spd, but besides my bellhousing bolts being too short it went well.
o yea one more thing. your manual shifter u will see there is a "C" where the lever meets the bushing, right below the shift gate. theres a lip that sticks out on the side that faces the trans, grind that as flush as u can and put about 1/8"-1/4" of washers between the gate/mounting bracket and trans or u wont be able to get in in 2wd or shift to 4wd. heres a pic of the part im talking about. dont worry about the writing i stole this pic from google.
i dont have my new shifter boot on so if i can take a pic from up top it will better explain it to u. if u need some help pm me, i get on trs alot ....happy wrenching
