auto to 5 speed with 3.0 4x4

ok so i have a 99 ranger with what i beleive is a 4r44e auto trans? but i dont think that matters i want a five speed.. i did get a parts truck with a 3.0 and 5 speed but it was a 2 wheel 5 speed so it wouldnt work with the transfer case.. so i was still on the look for a tranny.. well i got a 94 ranger 4x4 standard but it is a 4.0 liter so the tranny wont work. but here is were i start asking questions because i have looked... how would i go about tearing down the 4.0 5 speed to get the output shaft out and then rebuild my tranny to put the new output shaft in? and then would i be able to put his standard t-case in place for my electronic t-case.. i now think i have all my parts but a new clutch and a rebuid kit right?
