Auto Down Window Won't Stop

The driver's side window on our 2003 doesn't stop like it should when it hits the bottom when in auto-down mode. It just bumps until I push the button again. Is there a separate auto-down module or is it built into the switch or some other module?

Thanks for any help!

Are you sure the gears are not stripped. I think the motor has to see an increase in load to activate the auto shut off. If the gears are stripped it may not be reaching that load.

Thanks. I checked a bit more and I think you are correct. It felt like the gear was good because the window was still going up and down. But after more attention, there does seem to be some play between the up and down.

That was the problem. After watching a few youtube videos I was able to fix it with stuff I had laying around. I used some 1/4" fuel line with the tips of some plastic wall anchors stuffed in the center of it to replace the plastic that had disintegrated. Works perfect now. You have to like a fix that doesn't require a trip to the store.

I like that. Using some nice tricks to fix it. I hope it is a durable fix.
